The global hotkey function to show the Gizmo toolbar and to activate toolbar buttons have stoped working since I updated to 2.5. The only instance in which the hotkeys work is when Gizmo Manager window is the active window or when the toolbar is shown (but pressing the toolbar hotkey or center mouse button only hides the toolbar and does not show the toolbar when pressed again). I'm running Windows Home Premium. I tired to get the hotkeys to work by running Gizmo Villiage in admin mode and by deactivating Norton System Security, neither have worked.

Hi Curtis,

Have you tried rebooting since the update? It sounds like the module which handles the hot key interception is not running. It also sounds like the Vista UAC could be interfering.

If you run Gizmo as Administrator, then the hot keys will only get recognized by other applications that were run as Administrator. It's a security "feature" in Vista, but we're trying to see if there are some exceptions to the rule. Perhaps a way around it.

Likewise, when Gizmo is *not* run as Administrator, then the hotkeys will only get recognized by other programs *not* run as Administrator. This includes the Windows Shell, and so it is actually better to *not* run Gizmo as Administrator, since most programs run this way, and the hotkeys will work in most places.

Your problem sounds a little worse, though. If rebooting your computer does not solve the issue, please try downloading the full installer from the web site, and installing it over your existing installation. Reboot after the install, and see if that solves the problem.

A new warning message was added in v2.5.2, to make people more aware of this limitation. It'll be displayed whenever Gizmo is run as an Administrator.

A new option called 'Privileged Shortcut Keys' was added to the Gizmo context menu. When this option is enabled, it will allow programs, which are run as Administrator, to support the shortcut keys, even when Gizmo is run as a regular user. So, if you run Gizmo as a regular user, and enable this option, it ultimately allows all programs to support the shortcut keys, regardless if they are run as Administrator or not.
